Your child’s first dental visit should be scheduled around his/her first birthday. By the first birthday, we can begin checking for signs of proper development and creating positive associations with the dentist. The most important part of the visit is for the child to get to know us and become comfortable with our dentist and team. A pleasant, comfortable first visit builds trust and helps put the child at ease during future dental visits.
If this is your child’s first visit to the dentist, Dr. Mbibi will focus on introducing him or her to the sights and sounds of the dental office. Dr. Mbibi will perform a thorough exam and may take digital x-rays based on your child’s age.
Your child will then receive a dental cleaning and fluoride treatment. If your child has treatment needs, Dr. Mbibi and her team will work with you to develop a treatment plan based on your child’s individual needs.
In order to make your child’s first visit as seamless as possible, we ask that you bring the following items with you to your first visit:
1. Insurance Card
2. Any dental records and/or referrals (Dental records can also be emailed or mailed to us by your prior dentist)
3. New patient registration forms (which will eliminate any wait and keep things running smoothly) A pdf version of these forms can be downloaded here.
